@ErikKleyheeg These are certainly feather mites. Likely Proctophyllodes rubeculinus living on the ventral and Trouessartia rubecula on the dorsal side of these robin's feathers. They are not parasites, though: they clean feathers from fungi and bacteria. C

Very interesting that feather mites might not be directly harmful to birds, instead commensal. Perhaps mite load is still negatively associated with 'quality' in that there is higher fungal and bacterial abundance on feathers that mites are eating. https:
